In celebration of our kindergarten students mastering their ABCs, North and West Elementary Schools held their annual Alphabet Parades! In each class, students were assigned a letter of the alphabet and decorated a vest with images that began with their letter.
Our kindergarteners had so much fun during the parade and enjoyed the cheers of encouragement and support from their peers!
Midview Biomedical Sciences students recently toured the Richard E. Jacobs Health Center along with students from Lorain High School. Highlights of the trip included meeting therapy dog Macee, conversations with all levels of staff, and a tour of the lab facilities!
Before Winter Break, Midview National Honor Society members visited Danbury Senior Living in North Ridgeville to hand deliver holiday-themed stockings to residents. The stockings were filled with socks, activity books, snacks, candy, and much-needed toiletry items.
As always, our Midview students conducted themselves maturely and genuinely offered residents conversation and laughter. Together, they enjoyed lunch and many games of Bingo. NHS members were invited to return in the spring when the facility opens its doors for fresh air and the hope of sunshine.
Miss Michael’s first graders worked to develop their research and writing skills while learning about the diets, habitats, and characteristics of various arctic animals, including caribou, polar bears, and penguins. The class concluded the unit with a polar bear-themed treat and a science experiment that showed how blubber helps keep animals warm!
Midview Staff and Parents,
Good morning, arrival conditions are still concerning with the winter weather advisory still in effect. Therefore, for the safety of our staff and students, I am cancelling school today, Tuesday, January 23rd.
Stay safe,
Dr. Willingham
Hello Midview Families,
Based upon the "Winter Storm Warning's" timing, it appears arrival will be very dangerous for our staff and students. Therefore, I am cancelling school tomorrow, Friday, January 19th. Please be safe and warm.
Thanks,
Dr. Willingham
Mrs. Eppich’s third-grade class discussed Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s famous "I Have a Dream" speech and what it means to be kind, inclusive, and fair to one another. Each student spent time writing their own mini speeches, and together, they set a class goal to show 20 acts of kindness!
Midview Staff and Families,
Due to extremely cold and dangerous wind chills forecasted for tomorrow morning, the Midview Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Be safe and stay warm Middies!
Dr. Willingham
Fifth-grade art students utilized Bamboo Pen Tablets, obtained through a Midview Endowment Grant, to create animated cartoons! Students drew their backgrounds and elements on the tablets and then downloaded their art into Google Slides to bring their scenes to life.
Their cartoons will be on display at our annual ARTastic Fest on May 2 at the High School!
Before Winter Break, High School English Language Learner students took North Elementary students on a cultural journey with a special “Holidays Around the World” presentation! The high schoolers did a great job sharing the customs, traditions, and beliefs associated with the holidays they and their families celebrate.
North students enjoyed learning about Christmas in Ukraine and Puerto Rico, New Year's Eve in Ecuador, Ramadan, Friday Prayer, and Eid. They asked thoughtful questions, shared some of their own family traditions, and were excited to maybe incorporate some of the new traditions they learned about (such as eating 12 grapes under a table for good luck)!

Radio play-by-play voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Tim Alcorn, returned home to his alma mater to speak with our MHS Audio Broadcasting class! Tim shared his expertise, answered questions, and offered great advice about pursuing a career in the broadcasting industry.
This year, Christmas came early for several students thanks to the kindness and work of our Midview Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) members, which includes maintenance and custodians, bus drivers and mechanics, kitchen staff, secretaries, and library/educational/special education paraprofessionals.
Over the last several weeks, staff members worked together to donate and collect funds to purchase bicycles as part of their new Bikes for Kids Program. This past weekend, they assembled and hand-delivered new bikes to 13 deserving students in grades K-4!
Over the last few weeks, sixth-grade STEM students had the opportunity to design an Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO) prototype to assist children with spastic hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. Students worked in engineering design teams to research, sketch, and create an AFO that met specific criteria and constraints, including mobility, fit, foot alignment, support, and comfortability.
Today, the top teams from each homeroom presented their prototypes to guest judges from our high school PLTW Biomedical Sciences class!
Our MHS Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) recently visited middle school physical education classes to share more about their program and to teach our 7th and 8th-grade students about leadership.
Middle schoolers participated in various physical activity challenges while learning about character, self-discipline, citizenship, and community service!
