The Midview Local School District will make strides in enhancing both school security and transportation maintenance, thanks to two recent grants from the Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC).
Grant 1: School Security
The first grant will be used to replace six exterior doors at Midview High School. The doors were identified through a collaborative assessment involving local police and fire departments. The upgrade is set to begin in September and aims to enhance the overall security of the high school by addressing vulnerabilities and ensuring that all entry points meet current safety standards.
It is noteworthy that all exterior doors at the other school buildings within the district have been fully remediated.
Grant 2: Maintenance and Transportation
The second grant will fund the installation of a new bus wash and de-icer system at the district's maintenance and transportation garage. This new equipment is designed to extend the lifespan of our vehicles and buses by ensuring they are properly cleaned and maintained.
A company has already visited the site to design the bus wash system, and the project is now in the fabrication stage. This addition will help reduce maintenance costs and improve the overall condition of the district's fleet, which is crucial for ensuring reliable and safe transportation for our students. Installation is anticipated to be completed by wintertime.
