The Midview Local Schools staff had an exceptional opening week, laying a solid foundation for the new school year.
In his first address as superintendent, Dr. Frank Major shared his vision focused on unity, growth, and making a meaningful impact on our colleagues, community, and students. We were also honored to have bestselling author and motivational speaker Jon Gordon join us. His insights on driving with purpose, fueling our journey with positivity, and the power of teamwork were incredibly inspiring. Staff’s first day back concluded with a cookout, outdoor games, and a chance to connect and spend quality time together.
Throughout the week, our staff and administration dedicated their time to finalizing classroom preparations, collaborating on instructional strategies, analyzing data to improve student outcomes, and reviewing departmental and building goals. Additionally, they participated in a series of professional development sessions aimed at refining their skills and knowledge.
Professional development sessions covered a diverse range of topics, including:
Designing visual learning opportunities
Implementing math and literacy frameworks
Reviewing instructional resources
Maximizing student participation in class
Supporting English Language Learners
Behavior and emotion regulation
Suicide prevention and CPR training
Food preparation and safety (food services)
Maneuverability, route familiarity, and driving safety (transportation)
Latest techniques in repair, building care, and sanitation (maintenance)
Looking ahead, our scheduled professional development days will continue to support staff in enhancing their skills, collaborating with colleagues, and further developing their expertise. We will maintain our focus on strengthening instructional practice and closing achievement gaps, while also complying with recent state legislation that mandates science of reading professional development for all teachers and administrators.
Starting the year on such a positive note sets a strong foundation for success, and our Midview team is excited to build on this momentum throughout the school year.
