Our 5th and 6th grade students have been hard at work designing and building 18 upcycled mini-golf holes for our upcoming Elementary STEM Night on April 25! A "Coding Crew" has even been meeting after school to learn how to bring elements of each hole to life using Hummingbird Robotics Kits (funded by the Ohio STEM Learning Network grant East received last year)!
In addition to the mini golf course, this exciting evening of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) exploration will also include:
- Activity stations such as milk jug and plastic bottle sun catchers, cereal box flowers, junk necklaces, plastic bag friendship bracelets, & seed bombs
- West 3rd Grade Invention Convention projects
- PLTW class showcase
- informational math sessions
- a green screen for photo opportunities
- a Lorain County Waste Management informational table

Midview North recently concluded its school-wide learning initiative centered around the Iditarod! Known as the Last Great Race of Earth®, the Iditarod is the world’s longest annual sled dog race, spanning 1,000 miles through the Alaskan wilderness.
From math to art to physical education, students engaged in various activities, discussions, and hands-on projects as they followed the mushers and their sled dogs on their challenging and inspiring journey.
Students also enjoyed some additional activities throughout the month, including:
- A visit from Dr. Joe Urig, a Veterinarian from Fox Veterinary Hospital, to educate students on animal health and wellness.
- Participation in a Natural History Museum virtual assembly to learn about Balto, the sled dog turned national hero.
- Discovering state symbols, fun facts, and map skills through a cross-country postcard exchange connecting classrooms across all 50 states.

North and West students ended their day on a high note with a special showing of the MHS Spring Musical, 'You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown' 🎶

In celebration of our kindergarten students mastering their ABCs, North and West Elementary Schools held their annual Alphabet Parades! In each class, students were assigned a letter of the alphabet and decorated a vest with images that began with their letter.
Our kindergarteners had so much fun during the parade and enjoyed the cheers of encouragement and support from their peers!
