Midview Local Schools is proud to announce the district has been recognized as a 2022-2023 Project Lead the Way Distinguished District for its commitment to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programming. Midview is one of only 17 districts in the nation to earn such an honor and one of two in Ohio.
PLTW is a nonprofit organization that develops STEM curricula for elementary, middle, and high schools across the U.S. Through PLTW programs, students develop STEM knowledge as well as in-demand, transportable skills they will use both in school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they take.
“At Midview Local Schools, we understand the importance of comprehensive STEM programs in our schools that build our students’ creativity, collaboration, and process-thinking skills,” said Superintendent Dr. Willingham. “Our ultimate goal as a district is to empower our students to solve real-world problems that help provide a better future for the community in which they live.”
All five Midview schools have also been recognized in their respective categories.
Midview North Elementary, Midview West Elementary, and Midview East Elementary join just 15 other Ohio schools as PLTW Distinguished Launch Schools. Under the Launch School program, PK-grade 5 students can tap into their exploratory nature, engaging in learning that feels like play.
Midview East Intermediate and Midview Middle School were two of only 17 Ohio schools to earn the PLTW Distinguished Gateway School award, expanding on the Launch design by providing more opportunities for students to engage, excite and collaborate on STEM-centric projects.
Midview High School is one of 262 U.S. high schools to receive the Distinguished High School award, recognizing the school’s efforts in engaging students in real-world challenges based in areas of computer science, biomedical science, engineering, and micro-electromechanical systems.
