Midview Local Schools is proud to announce that Midview East Intermediate School teacher Kimberly Kauffman has been selected as a Grand Prize Winner in The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation Teacher Innovative Awards. Her selection means Ms. Kauffman will receive a five-day “Innovation Immersion Experience” at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, in July.
The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation Teacher Innovator Awards recognize teachers who inspire students to challenge the rules and take risks, demonstrate how to be collaborative and empathetic, and teach the value of learning by staying curious and learning from failure.
“It’s such an honor to be recognized by an organization like The Henry Ford,” said Ms. Kauffman. “I not only owe a great deal to our teachers and administration but also to our wonderful students who have met every challenge head-on. They’ve been a tremendous inspiration, and I look forward to the work we will continue in the future.”
Kauffman’s five-day trip includes roundtrip transportation to Detroit, accommodations, select meals, behind-the-scenes tours, workshops with The Henry Ford Learning & Engagement staff, and a recognition ceremony. She will also receive $1,500 in Amazon gift cards for classroom supplies and select merchandise from The Henry Ford.
“We’re proud of the work Ms. Kauffman has done with our students and it’s a testament to what she brings to her classroom every day that she is being recognized by The Henry Ford,” said Midview Superintendent Dr. Bruce Willingham. “Her students appreciate the work they do in her classes, and her ability to challenge them and support them in their education are just some of the qualities that make her such an important innovator for Midview Schools.”
