mean girls

Get ready for a “fetch” evening of high school drama and humor as Midview High School presents its spring musical, "Mean Girls High School Version"! Under the direction of D. Justin Bilewicz, III, with assistance from Marci Saxon, our talented cast and crew are set to bring this beloved adaptation of the hit 2004 film Mean Girls to life with show-stopping dance numbers, big singing, and dynamic character performances.

The musical tells the story of Cady Heron, who starts high school at 16 after being homeschooled in Africa for the first 15 years of her life. Cady quickly crosses paths with "The Plastics," a group of popular girls who rule the school through intimidation, backstabbing, and bullying. Originally joining their clique as a joke, Cady finds herself sucked into their world and discovers the dark side of high school friendships. "Mean Girls High School Version" follows the plot of the film and includes many of the movie’s iconic moments and jokes.

“Mean Girls High School Version is a fun, high-energy show, but it also delivers an honest look at the challenges of high school life,” said Marci Saxon, Music Director and Assistant Director. “Some scenes explore difficult themes like bullying, peer pressure, and self-image, but that’s what makes the show so impactful. It doesn’t shy away from difficult conversations; instead, it encourages audiences to reflect on the importance of kindness, self-acceptance, and staying true to oneself. While the humor and music make it an entertaining experience, the heart of the show is its message—lifting others up is always more powerful than tearing them down.”

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for senior citizens, students, or thespians. Please review the following content warning prior to purchasing tickets:

CONTENT ADVISORY: Mean Girls contains adult themes, strong language and depictions of mature situations that may not be appropriate for all audiences. While the High School Version script includes revisions, it closely follows the plot of the original film and Broadway musical. Parents of younger children are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the movie or musical soundtrack before purchasing tickets.

While Mean Girls contains mature content, it also provides an opportunity for meaningful dialogue about healthy vs. unhealthy friendships, social media, bullying and other important topics that adolescents face on a daily basis. The Midview Local Schools Drama department has engaged in these conversations during the rehearsal process and hopes the show will invite audience members to do the same.

"It’s an iconic show and movie,” said Heath Bier, a freshman making his Midview theater debut as Damian Hubbard. “It has great messages across the board about bullying and how to step out and be a leader.”
